1️⃣🇷🇺 Russia: Russian forces claimed control of the village of Vovche in Donetsk as they advanced westward, targeting towns like Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visited the frontline in Kharkiv. In Germany, officials dismissed Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats, vowing not to be intimidated.
2️⃣🇲🇱 Mali: A Russian mercenary commander was killed in a sandstorm ambush by separatist rebels in northern Mali. The Wagner Group, now operating as Africa Corps, suffered heavy losses, including 20 to 50 mercenaries, during fierce battles near Tinzaouaten. The Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security and Development (CSP-PSD) claimed responsibility for the attack.
3️⃣🇵🇸 Gaza: The UN reports that 86% of Gaza is now under Israeli evacuation orders amid escalating attacks that have killed at least 33 Palestinians. Thousands are fleeing central Gaza, including Bureij and Nuseirat camps, due to new orders from the Israeli army. The health crisis worsens as Gaza is declared a "polio endemic area" by its Ministry of Health.
4️⃣🇮🇱 Israel: Foreign Minister Israel Katz urged NATO to expel Turkey after President Erdogan threatened potential military action against Israel, likening it to Turkish interventions in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh. Relations between Israel and Turkey, once strong, have significantly deteriorated, especially amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.
5️⃣🇻🇪 Venezuela: Protests erupted in Caracas after President Nicolás Maduro claimed victory in a disputed election. Security forces used tear gas and rubber bullets against thousands of demonstrators, who accused Maduro of fraud and supported opposition candidate Edmundo González, who they believe won with 73.2% of the vote. The election has drawn international condemnation and calls for transparency from countries and organizations like the UN.
Major Story
Western nations, including the UK, Germany, France, and the US, have issued urgent travel advisories for Lebanon, urging their citizens to leave the country amid escalating tensions. The advisories come in response to a deadly rocket attack on the Golan Heights, which has been attributed to Hezbollah by Israel and the US, despite the group’s denial of responsibility. The situation remains fluid, with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy emphasizing the rapidly changing dynamics and the potential for severe disruptions to commercial travel.
In an effort to prevent a full-scale conflict, Washington is reportedly pressuring Israel to avoid targeting densely populated areas in Beirut, Hezbollah’s stronghold, or critical infrastructure such as airports and bridges. The US has been in continuous dialogue with both Lebanese and Israeli officials to contain the situation. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab has indicated that a restrained Israeli response could avert a significant escalation, provided civilian areas are spared.
Despite these diplomatic efforts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed a stern response, describing the rocket attack as intolerable. The White House has downplayed the likelihood of a broader conflict, with National Security Council Communications Advisor John Kirby expressing confidence in avoiding an all-out war. However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned Israel against attacking Lebanon, underscoring the high stakes and potential for severe regional repercussions.

Mozambique had previously settled with Credit Suisse and VTB, while Privinvest plans to appeal the ruling.
